During my formative years in elementary school, our classroom was situated at the far end of the hallway. As third-graders, we were under the tutelage of a middle-aged woman who was a stickler for diligent study. Positioned at the front of the classroom was a modest chalkboard, upon which we inscribed everything from mathematical equations to poetic verses - the entire gamut of our curriculum. Adjacent to our humble abode was a fifth-grade class, boasting a larger cohort and a more spacious classroom. I distinctly recall feeling a sense of inferiority when they recently installed a new whiteboard, which only served to accentuate the disparity between our two classes.
One fateful day, the fifth-grade teacher fell ill, and their class was abruptly dismissed. In a stroke of serendipity, our teacher seized the opportunity to relocate our class to their spacious classroom for a day. It was a momentous occasion, as we were introduced to the wonders of a wide whiteboard, adorned with a plethora of magical colors that we had never before encountered. The novelty of this experience left an indelible impression on me, one that has remained etched in my memory for years.
Observing elementary school students in the present day, I cannot help but notice a stark contrast to the students of yesteryear. With the advent of online learning, the majority of classes are now conducted virtually, and many educational institutions boast state-of-the-art recording facilities. In-person classes are now equipped with smart boards, and the teacher’s voice is recorded for students to review at their leisure. These developments are a testament to the ever-evolving methods of communicating ideas to audiences, and serve as a harbinger of the exciting possibilities that lie ahead.
In this day and age, modern technologies and the widespread use of social media have enabled a skilled teacher’s voice and eloquent expression to reach a vast audience in a matter of seconds. Conversely, poor instruction is just as quickly recognized and rejected by discerning listeners. As such, it is imperative for teachers to stay abreast of the latest developments in their field, while also honing their communication skills to effectively convey the material to their students.
The evolution of technology and its impact on modern teaching methods has been a topic that has captivated my attention for many years. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the widespread adoption of online classes in lieu of traditional face-to-face sessions served as a catalyst for me to develop a customized platform for presenting academic knowledge. The result of this endeavor was the creation and launch of this website, through which you are currently reading my writing.
It is my sincere hope that this website will serve as a convenient and accessible platform for my teachings and research to reach a wider audience. I welcome any feedback or suggestions on how to improve the website or ideas for online courses and research that can be presented in a similar format and would be of value to the general public.
